Two Separate Problems, Not One

What passes for a single question around landing a vertical drama onto a TV set is really two separate ones. Number one is the question of whether an app is published for whatever screen you own, and in 2026 it does not, for most daily short dramas brands. Number two is geometry, given that the episodes are framed 9:16 for an upright phone while your television is 16:9. Settling problem one does nothing for the second, and plenty of guides quietly skip that part. Below is what the official listings actually support, what is not, and where that gap leaves you. I will say so where there is nothing official rather than invent a workaround, because workarounds in this category are how people end up installing something they should not.

The One Screen With a Real App Is Apple TV

My Drama, the vertical-video streaming service built by the Kyiv studio Holywater, is the genuine exception. iPhone, iPad, Apple TV on tvOS 18 or later, and Apple Vision Pro are all listed on its App Store listing. The tvOS 18 line is not a formality, since an older Apple TV box may simply not be offered the app. A Webby Award for Best Streaming Service went to My Drama in 2025, and Fox Entertainment bought into an equity stake that October, which is the sort of backing that pays for platform work. As of September 2026, full access is billed at about $19.99 a week in the US App Store, though prices vary by country and change. If you want nothing but short dramas on a real television with an official app, this is currently the shortest path.

The ReelShort TV App That Does Not Exist

“reelshort tv” and “reel short tv” are searched constantly, and the thing being searched for does not appear to exist. The App Store listing for ReelShort covers iOS, iPadOS, Mac computers with Apple silicon and visionOS, and it shows no Apple TV version at all. Unverified to date is the status of a ReelShort app for smart televisions, Roku or Apple TV, and no official listing for one was found. That is a flat answer rather than a hedge: as of September 2026 there is no ReelShort living-room app you can install. The nearest official stand-ins are the Mac app on Apple silicon and the website in a desktop browser, both of which reach a big display through a cable. So anything calling itself a ReelShort television app is not what it claims, which matters a good deal more than the inconvenience.

The Browser Route, Site by Site

A browser is the most flexible big-screen route, and the three big sites behave very differently. reelshort.com is the fullest of them: it lets you sign in with Google, Facebook, Apple, TikTok or email and syncs viewing progress across devices, so a laptop plugged into a television resumes where your phone left off. One catch is printed on its own series pages: free unlocks happen in the app, so ads and check-in rewards remain on your phone. ShortMax sends you off sideways: shortmax.com redirects to shorttv.live, which does offer web browsing of dramas. Of the three, DramaBox is the most app-first, and dramabox.com mainly points visitors toward the app rather than playing much for you. A browser is the one route that works today if the plan is to watch short dramas online on something bigger than a phone, with ReelShort’s site the strongest of the set.

Casting and Mirroring Are Untested, Not Endorsed

This is the point where I have to be blunt about the limits of what is documented. Silence does not count as a feature: no official listing or support page I checked states that these apps support AirPlay, Chromecast or any other casting protocol. Screen mirroring is a system-level trick rather than an app feature, and apps in other streaming categories routinely block it, so call it untested rather than supported. A physical cable from a laptop or an Apple silicon Mac to an HDMI input asks for nobody’s goodwill, given that the television then sees a plain video signal. A Roku stick has no HDMI input, so no cable trick is available there. If casting works on your app and television, enjoy it, but nobody has promised that it will survive the next update.

A Tall Show on a Wide Screen Wastes Most of the Panel

The geometry is next, and there is no app fix for it. A 9:16 video has to fit the height of a 16:9 panel, leaving two black columns wider, together, than the picture itself. On a 65-inch television, by my own calculation, the image ends up in a strip roughly 18 inches wide and 32 inches tall, which is a diagonal of about 37 inches and a bit under a third of the panel area. A picture smaller than a 40-inch widescreen one is what a 65-inch set ends up showing, in other words. Zooming to fill the width cuts the top and bottom off every shot, and because these shows frame faces dead center, the crop removes the performance. Deliberate framing is the reason the format works at arm’s length and looks stranded across a living room. Odd to write and still true: a propped-up tablet is often better than a television.

Fake TV Apps and Sideloaded Installs

Since the demand is real and the supply is not, the gap fills with junk. ReelShort’s own guidance is worth repeating: any address with misspellings or unofficial suffixes is a pirated site. At least one DramaBox look-alike domain openly describes its download as an unofficial modified version of the app, which should not go near your account. Names cause their own trouble: an Android app called ReelBox has no connection to ReelShort, and GoldShort TV is a small unrelated Android TV app, not a GoodShort product. The phrase “short tv” also turns up in several unrelated app names, which collides with ShortTV, the brand behind shorttv.live. Sideloading a phone APK onto an Android television box is no official route either, and it leaves no store receipt, no refund path and no way to verify what you installed.

The Screens, One by One, in 2026

The table below sets out each screen, what is officially supported, what is not, and what that leaves you doing. Built from the official listings as checked in September 2026, it cannot promise more, and platform support changes without announcements. Where a cell says nothing official was found, that means exactly that and no more. No gap here is filled with a rumor or a third-party claim.

Device, or screen Supported officially What no listing supports What you are left with
Apple TV on tvOS 18 or later My Drama, as an app No ReelShort version on its listing The only real living-room app; older boxes miss out
Apple Vision Pro visionOS is listed by My Drama and ReelShort Not a screen a room can share A huge virtual display, but for one viewer
Apple silicon Mac The ReelShort app No Mac version on My Drama’s listing The official ReelShort route to a big display, over a cable
Samsung or LG smart TV No official app found No TV app from ReelShort, DramaBox, ShortMax or DramaWave was found Fall back on an HDMI input and a laptop
Roku No official app found Any ReelShort Roku channel is unverified No route at all; no HDMI input to fall back on
Android TV or Google TV box No official app turned up Sideloaded phone APKs are no official route Leave it alone rather than sideload
Laptop or desktop browser reelshort.com with a synced login, plus shorttv.live web browsing Free unlocks stay in the app; dramabox.com pushes to the app The most reliable big-screen path, over a cable

That second column makes the shape of the market plain. One app aside, the television has been left to the browser. No change has arrived yet, though presumably it will.

The Setup I Would Use Myself

Install My Drama and stop reading if you own an Apple TV on tvOS 18 or later, given that this is the finished answer. For everything else, put a laptop on the HDMI input, open reelshort.com or shorttv.live, and sign in with the same account as your phone so progress follows you. The free unlocking happens on the phone first, where the ads and check-ins live, and the big screen follows. Expect a tall strip in the middle of the panel and accept it, because cropping to fill the width costs you the faces. Pay no attention to anything promising a television build of an app whose maker has not published one. The honest summary is that short dramas on a big screen in 2026 are a compromise you can set up in five minutes, not a product anyone has properly built yet.
